With one Ford Model T vehicle, William Arthur “Art” Reddaway (1888–1957) began USF Reddaway in Oregon City, Oregon in June 1919 as Reddaway’s Truck Line, Inc. Ethel May Joslin Reddaway (1886–1956), his wife, was the company’s president. Walter Wayne “Walt” Reddaway (1915–1979), his son, took over the business and ran it until he retired in 1970. Walt went on to develop The Reddaway System, a trucking industry-specific spray protection rain flap. In 1975, he was granted a patent for his invention.
Another reorganization occurred in 2011. After dropping the “USF” from their corporate identities, USF Reddaway, USF Holland, and USF Glen Moore were renamed Reddaway, Holland, and Glen Moore, respectively. In 2011, YRC sold Glen Moore to Celadon Trucking, leaving the YRC Regional Group with just Reddaway, Holland, and New Penn. Reddaway relocated its headquarters from Oregon City, Clackamas County, to Tualatin, a Portland suburb, the following year, and by 2021, the firm claimed to be operating 1,500 vehicles (including box trucks) and 5,000 trailers from 50 service facilities with over 3,000 employees. In 2021, YRC renamed itself Yellow Corporation and announced ambitions to unify all of its trademarks by 2022.
